The Service Inventory Planner/Buyer is responsible to plan and control spare parts and service center inventory within the Technical Service Group Organization. QSC Technical Service Group parts planning and procurement is a global and organizational level leadership position that plays a significant role in the QSC Technical Services Group Organization. The ability to use ERP planning systems, tools, and process, to ensure that the right material is ordered and available to support global service requirements is essential. Having the right parts in place at the right rime is essential for QSC in order to support it’s customers to keep their systems up, running, and operational.

The Service Inventory Planner/Buyer will help to develop the systems, processes and tools that enable the planning, procuring, stocking and distribution of inventory necessary to support the QSC Global Technical Service Group. The ability to evaluate and plan inventory based on forecast, historical usage and new product introduction is essential.

Service Parts Planning

  • Evaluates customer support and field service commitments to ensure customer requirements are met; exercises own judgment within only generally defined practices and procedures in order to prioritize.

  • Evaluate and analyze MRP output to ensure the correct material is driven, ordered, and available to support global service requirements

  • Develops and implements control systems to move inventory in a timely and cost effective manner.

  • Negotiates with production and OEM vendors for delivery of forecast parts.

  • Maintains spare parts lists and analyzes and effects disposition of surplus, scrap, and obsolete inventory for assigned products.

  • Expedites transactions and movement of material, including "buy" parts and vendor returns and repairs.

  • Resolves inventory discrepancies. May prepare reports as requested by management.

  • Document, communicate and maintain service parts planning approach, including stocking strategy by warehouse/region.

Service Parts Purchasing Management

  • Place purchase orders with service parts suppliers and monitor due dates.

  • Work with Global Supply Chain to negotiate pricing, lead time, MOQ and delivery terms.

  • Establish and maintain supplier profiles and return policies.

  • Implement best-practices to reduce freight cost and repair turnaround time for vendor returns and repair costs.

Other Responsibilities

  • Identify process and systems gaps to improvement operational efficiencies

  • Communicate part shortages and recovery plan to Customer Service and service partners

  • Develop vendor return/repair processes and controls

  • A.A. Degree in Inventory Management Or Demand Management

  • 5+ years of experience in material planning and inventory control

  • Solid knowledge of APICS and MRP planning systems principal, practices, and techniques

  • Work experience in planning material in a service center environment which should include but not be limited to the alignment of master data and system settings within an ERP planning system environment to support service center planning.

  • Uses materials and production planning best practices and policies to develop business processes and procedures for creating and manage service bills of material, service center forecast, and materials requirements planning more accurate, efficient, and predictable.

  • 2-3 years experience working with Oracle is preferred

  • Manages complexity – make sense of complex, high visibility, and sorting through information timely and independently to effectively solve problems

  • Optimizes work processes – identify the most effective and efficient processes to get things done and improve our customer experience. Recognize and remove noise and/or waste

  • Must possess strong analytical skills and problem solving skills. Work and solve problems of diverse scope. Must be able to proficiently solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Work independently in collaboratively with key stakeholders.

  • Must possess excellent customer service and communication skills.
