Synchrony VP, Intelligent Automation Center of Excellence (IA CoE) Architecture and Governance Leader in COSTA MESA, California

Job Description:

Role Summary/Purpose:

This exciting position will be to work in the Artificial Intelligence team under the CTO AI and Emerging Technology team. As the Architecture and Governance Leader for the Intelligent Automation CoE (IA CoE), you will be responsible for leading automation design and architecture using a collection of methods and tools to document, improve, and monitor business processes. You will be responsible for identifying and continuously improving on automation solutions that will meet the business and functional needs. You will continually evaluate new AI automation tools and methodologies and optimize existing ones. In the role of governance, you will ensure proper implementation and adherence of automation standards and procedures using RPA, ICR and other tools under the IA CoE. As a leader in the IA CoE, you will help drive the intelligent automation roadmap as well as shape emerging technologies in automation and AI.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Drives Intelligent Automation transformation across multiple business processes.

  • Provide thought leadership in automation solution architecture, continuously bringing together tools and methods to solve complex business challenge.

  • Propose and present solutions and roadmaps to solve complex business needs. These should showcase proper understanding of constraints - technology, risk, cost, resources, time, etc

  • Lead reviews of Process Automation Design (PAD) documents to ensure efficient cohesive solution design.

  • Establish reuse, componentization, and other methodologies for efficient effective, forward-thinking solution design and architecture.

  • Ensure proper scaling of infrastructure and architecture components of RPA product (Automation Anywhere) and ICR (Kofax); working with Operations Team as well as other technology teams (e.g. Identity Management, Citrix VDI, Network)

  • Communicate AI product architecture to stakeholders (technology and business) and collaborate and coordinate with existing domain architects in the formalization and adoption of standards and procedures

  • Governance responsibility for ensuring all delivery of solutions follow standards and processes and proper risk mitigation as documented

  • Oversee and develop technology controls and guidelines for Intelligent Automation solutions including RPA and ICR as well as new controls as we add more tools.

  • Manage 3rd party resources, contractors, and software vendors

  • Perform and lead Proof of Concepts, Proof of Values, and Prototyping as needed

  • People manager of team members

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field (Computer Science, Engineering, etc) with a minimum of 12 years’ relevant experience (including military) in Information Technology

  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience with Automation software architecture and/or RPA technologies such as Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, and UI Path or similar technologies

  • 5+ years knowledge in solution architecture disciplines and working experience with service-oriented development

  • 5+ years experience at expert level in Agile software development life-cycle – SCRUM/Kanban

  • 3+ years of strong demonstrated leadership, mentorship, and team management capabilities

Desired Characteristics:

  • Technically creative and open-minded

  • Experience with transforming monolithic applications to (micro) services-based architectures

  • Broad understanding of information technology topics

  • Effective interpersonal skills and collaborative management style to include teamwork and team building ability

  • Adaptable and highly self-motivated in pursuing intelligent automation and emerging technologies

  • Solid experience in presentation and excellent verbal/written communications

  • Solution oriented, synthesizing, and analytical skills.

  • Excellent collaboration skills, ability to achieve results through vendors, and team members, proficient organizational skills, demonstrated passion for execution excellence and agility.

  • Strong execution ability and a sense of urgency.

  • Experience in solution design, front-end solution development and back-end infrastructure platforms are preferred

  • Executive presence and ability to simplify complex concepts for consumption by non-technical business partners

  • Experience in data engineering, AI a plus

  • Business acumen in financial services, retail banking and credit card processing is highly desirable

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must have at least a “consistently meets expectations” performance rating and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance requirement).

The salary range for this position is 100,000.00 - 200,000.00 USD Annual

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA and Metro NY and some positions are bonus eligible.
