Complete Description

Under the general direction of the Medical Director of Medical Imaging and in consultation with a supervising physician, the Medical Imaging Nurse Practitioner (MINP) will examine and treat patients undergoing radiologic procedures and treatments in the acute care and ambulatory care setting. The MINP functions under the Radiology APP Standardized Procedures and Protocols approved by the Allied Health Practice Committee to assist interventional radiologists with therapeutic and diagnostic imaging for each patient. Duties and responsibilities focus on helping the radiology team with explaining the procedure to patients as part of their treatment plan, gathering necessary information from patients, communicating with radiology staff about patients and procedures, monitoring patient progress, educating patients about after-care and future steps, and writing prescriptions, if necessary. MINP's possess exceptional verbal and written communication, interpersonal, critical thinking, problem-solving, assessment, and technical skills and give substantial attention to detail.

  • California Nurse Practitioner License; and

  • California Nurse Practitioner furnisher number; and

  • Drug Enforcement Administration registration (DEA Registration); and

  • California Prescription Monitoring Program CURES registration; and

  • Basic Life Support; and

  • Graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner training program.
