Raytheon Technologies is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer Lead. The Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC) designs and develops electronics and test equipment for RF, EW, Communications and EO sensors. HWEC provides engineering, technology development, and manufacturing support for an extensive line of airborne, ground, and space-based systems. This position is located in Goleta, CA with potential for part time telecommuting with Manager approval.
The candidate will be responsible for design of digital, power conversion, analog, and mixed signal circuits for Electronic Warfare & Radar Warning Receiver (RWR) products & subsystems. The candidate will be performing digital, power electronics, and analog circuit design, and electrical design analysis, implementing design solutions, performing simulations, and performing analysis and testing of associated hardware in a laboratory setting. The selected candidate will generate complex electrical and digital design performance requirements documents and testing requirements. Candidate will be an Integrated Product Team Leader or a lead design engineer on leading edge Electronic Warfare processing products, and will be familiar with the technology trends in the area of digital/communications and analog signal circuits. The candidate will work in the product development team environment with system engineers. The candidate will perform complex trade studies, and will also support technical proposals in support of capturing new business pursuits. The candidate will contribute to developing and contributing to product roadmaps for Electronic Warfare Digital and Power products. This position may require occasional business related travel.
As an Principal Electrical Engineer, you may be involved with any of the following activities:
Development: C ircuit analysis, circuit simulation, design documentation maintenance, trade assessments for obsolescence resolution, troubleshooting and resolution of hardware performance issues and hardware integration, test and verification
Integration and test of RF/Analog/Digital components and modules
Design, development, specification, and integration of Special Test Equipment (STE) with EW Hardware designs
Work as part of a team to analyze Hardware / Software test requirements /specifications to determine Hardware and Software requirements
Develop solutions to test issues and develop productivity and efficiency enhancements
Interact with other disciplines (Systems, Mechanical, Software) & test technicians, factory facilitators, operations managers, other engineers, Quality Assurance and Reliability personnel.
U.S. Citizenship status is required, as this position will require a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
Minimum of 8+ years with experience in the design and development of digital and power electronics
Experience working in a lab environment with standard EE lab equipment (i.e., oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, DMMs, signal sources, Bit Error Rate Measurements)
Experience working within a team environment
Experience developing and and delivery complex Design Reviews, Requirements Reviews, and other presentations (verbal and/or written) to key leadership stakeholders (Customers, Program Office, Functional Management)
Experience with complex circuit design and modeling tools such as Spice, Simplis, ADS, Matlab, or equivalent tools
Experience with MS Office tool suite
Demonstrated success in the design and development of complex digital and analog electronics, and leading small multi-disciplinary design teams
Demonstrated experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) or other Project Cost control experience
Familiarity with designing to compliance to EMI/EMC requirements
U.S. Citizenship is required
Proven hands on experience with ability to work with and support production and integration
Ability to demonstrate delivery quality and timely results
Required Education (including major): Bachelors of Science with a major in Electrical Engineering or STEM major is required.
Desired Education (including major): Master’s Degree in STEM.
