Orchard Hospital Director of Foundation and Grants in Gridley, California

Primary Job Function:

The Director of Foundation and Grants is the primary fundraising liaison reporting directly to the President and CEO of Orchard Hospital. This position is responsible for leading and strengthening a comprehensive fundraising program in support of the Foundation’s mission and goals. This includes overall planning, organization, management, marketing, sponsorship generation, volunteer coordination, implementation of day of event arrangements for all Foundation revenue and non-revenue events and directed fundraising campaigns necessary to build a new hospital. The Director works directly with the Foundation board to plan and implement events. The Coordinator is an ex-officio member of the Orchard Hospital Foundation.

This position is responsible for finding, procurement and management of local, state, federal, and other grants.

Able to demonstrate a record of continuing involvement in professional activities, conduct behavior in a collegiate manner, able to work independently and as an effective team member, and setting and meeting deadlines and goals of the Orchard Hospital Foundation and Orchard Hospital.

Qualifications:

Minimum: Two years of experience in project management or event planning.

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Marketing/Business Administration, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or related field. Two years experience in fundraising, event planning, volunteer management, sales, marketed or related field. Either has or will be a CFRE within six months of employment.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:

Expertise in event planning; event execution; volunteer recruitment, training, and management; and fundraising techniques required. Must be a strategic thinker and collaborative team player. Must possess proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook (Microsoft Office Suite) and other computer skills for a variety of management functions.(Knowledge of Foundation software and donor database management experience strongly desired but not required.) The position requires skill in crafting event plans, facilitating multiple activities and developing consensus among key groups; maintaining strong working relationships with hospital personnel, community members and all volunteers. This position requires exceptionally strong organizational skill with ability to manage current events while simultaneously planning for future events. Strategic, organizational, and multi-tasking skills are essential. Position involves strong creative effort to develop relationships in the community that enhance organizational success. Demonstrate leadership ability and professional judgment. Must have exceptional, proven written and oral communication skills. Must work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to understand an identified need and locate grants to help support that need. Behavior should be reflective of Orchard Hospital core values. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.

Summary of Duties:

EVENT ORGANIZATION AND QUALITY Understands and effectively utilizes quality improvement processes, statistics, and reporting mechanisms to select, plan and assess value of Orchard Hospital sponsored events. Work is of high quality and completed on time with minimal supervision. Collaborates across the organization and the community to increase the quality and value of events. Articulate and professional spokesperson for the organization when necessary. Works collaboratively and efficiently with other departments to develop event materials, publicity, recognition pieces, news releases, news coverage, and web announcements of Foundation activities and campaigns. Directs event time-line, arrangements, and budget along with tracking, analyzing, and reporting event results. Organizes event planning calendar, materials, program, entertainment, day of event tracking, and wrap up activities. Execute all donor interactions in a manner that enhances donor confidence and trust in our organization.

FUNDRAISING EVENTS AND CAMPAIGNS Responsible for planning and implementation of committee recruitment, training, activities, and retention to increase community involvement with the Orchard Hospital Foundation. Cultivates and solicits major charitable gifts to support the event, including sponsorship opportunities and ticket sales. Creates and implements all aspects of annual golf tournament, annual Sporting Clay Event and other large event planning. Golf Tournament have target net proceeds of $50,000 and Sporting Clay Event of $25,000. Assists Foundation with planning, creation, and execution of annual employee, physician and volunteer giving campaigns. Working with Foundation, capture all necessary data to appropriately record and recognize gifts generated through fundraising events and campaigns. Other duties as assigned.

RECOGNITION EVENTS Responsible for planning and implementation of donor recognition events. Works directly with Foundation on decisions, guests, recipients, and program. Responsible for implementation of appropriate contracts, creation of marketing plan, day of event execution and recognition tracking. Other duties as assigned.

CULTIVATION AND EDUCATIONAL EVENTS Working with Foundation Board of Directors, assist in the creation and execution of cultivation and educational events aimed at potential donors and Foundation supporters. Plan and implement events that will increase overall giving to the Foundation and build awareness of Orchard Hospital programs, facilities and equipment needs creating goals for current or upcoming annual campaigns. Coordinate, contract, and cultivate volunteers for annual Butte County Fair.

GRANT WRITING Be able to locate, procure, and manage local, state, federal and other grants from beginning to end, including defining required resources, creation of work plans, submit data as requested by the Grantor, account for expenditures, and other requirements outlined in a grant award. Must be able to write intelligently about the need of a grant and how it can support Orchard Hospital's Mission and Vision.
