The Role and the Team
The Competitive Intelligence team plays a vital role by ensuring the most relevant insight about our competitors and differentiation is available across the company. This team develops a deep technical and strategic understanding of the competitive landscape to effectively monitor, position, and win deals against the competition. This group also works cross-functionally with product management, engineering, sales, customer success, and marketing to improve our differentiation plan and enhance our position in the market.
The primary goal of the Senior Sales Engineer is to increase the level of engagement between Americas Sales and the Competitive Intelligence Team, as well as to achieve a comparative rise in competitive win percentages. You will team with and provide technical pre-sales support for Americas sales teams, channel resellers, partners and customers in support of Proofpoint competitive sales engagements. Additionally, you will conduct extensive research and utilize knowledge of competitive solutions to effectively position Proofpoint to customers and partners alike. You will be expected to be hands on technical, so relevant security certifications such as CISSP are a bonus!
In this role, you will also collaborate with Marketing, Product Management, Legal, and Sales Operations to create promotional offerings and incentives, including competitor specific pricing strategies. Behind the scenes, you will track, document and share feature and product enhancements as well as develop content to train the Proofpoint sales teams as well as Partner sales staff. Experience using salesforce.com will be very helpful.
Technical Sales or Sales / Systems Engineering from a cybersecurity vendor
Experience in the design and deployment of email security and DLP solutions
Strong technical presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to drive strategic initiatives from C-level executives
Ability to travel 25-75%, post Covid
