The Metropolitan Water District of Southern Califo Assistant Engineer II in La Verne, California
The Assistant Engineer II (Water Quality) is responsible for assisting groups within Metropolitan to ensure 100 percent compliance with primary drinking water standards in the design and operations of Metropolitan’s water systems.
The duties of the Assistant Engineer II include assisting with the following: Reviewing design criteria to ensure compliance with existing and future water quality regulations; Developing and documenting process design criteria to be used for treatment plant and distribution system upgrades and expansions; Reviewing and analyzing water quality data and providing recommendations to ensure compliance with all drinking water quality regulations; Serving on treatment plant and/or distribution Quality Assurance Teams; Developing test plans and conducting studies at the bench-, pilot-, demonstration-, and full-scale plant level to analyze water quality issues and optimize treatment processes; Analyzing water quality and operational data, performing complex water chemistry calculations, participating in field investigations, developing cost estimates, and preparing memoranda and reports documenting results; and Providing critical review and analyses, including literature reviews, on water quality and treatment related issues and technologies.

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Assistant Engineer I level
Related field is defined as: a degree in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, or Chemical)
Relevant Experience is defined as: engineering experience assisting in the design and/or operation of water or wastewater treatment plants
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
Employees in this position may be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications, licensing and registrations:
Valid California Class C Driver License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive in the course of your employment
