The Boeing Company C-17 Senior Human Factors Engineer in Long Beach, California

The Boeing Company is seeking a

C-17 Senior Human Factors Engineer

in Long Beach, CA to perform as a Human Factors Engineer on the C-17 Globemaster III aircraft and apply Human Factors principles, tools, and techniques to a continuing series of upgrades and improvements to the aircraft.

Position Responsibilities:

Application of Human Factors principles, tools and techniques to the Design, Technical Documents, Training, Maintenance, Support Equipment and Testing of the C-17 aircraft and its interface with the human operators.

Utilize HFE processes to design physical and cognitive interfaces for Displays, Controls, Lighting and Software.Participate in Airworthiness and Mission Analysis, Safety Assessment as it relates to the human interface, Workload Analysis, and Maintainability.

Apply design criteria and requirements found in MIL-STD-1472 and C-17 Air Vehicle Specifications to human interface conceptualization, design, qualification, test and evaluation.

Have good proficiency in writing and drawing tools to convey interface concepts, design tradeoffs, demonstration, test and evaluation results and reporting, and present those products to USAF and foreign military customers.

Have a knowledge of or interest in learning the skill set, tasks, and procedures for military C-17 pilots, loadmasters, and maintainers.

Work closely with operators, engineers, software designers, and customer representatives to maximize the usability of all C-17 human interfaces within program schedules and cost.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

A Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

5+ years of experience with application of Human Factors principles, tools and techniques to the Design, Technical Documents, Training, Maintenance, Support Equipment and Testing of aircraft and their interface with the human operators.

5+ years of experience in human factors engineering.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

Past participation in Airworthiness and Mission Analysis, Safety Assessment as it relates to the human interface, Workload Analysis, and Maintainability.

Knowledge in tasks and procedures for military C-17 pilots, loadmasters, and maintainers.

Experience working closely with operators, engineers, software designers, and customer representatives to maximize the usability of all C-17 human interfaces within program schedules and cost.

Experience working in a cross functional environment.

Experience building strong relationships with partners, military customers and suppliers.

Typical Education/ Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
