The Pulmonary Rehab department is seeking for highly motivated Patient Service Representative II. In this position, you will support highly respected physicians and clinical staff in the delivery of health care by performing a broad range of administrative and patient-focused tasks to maintain a smooth and efficient office workflow.

What will you be doing in this role?

Under general supervision, provides administrative support, coordinating all administrative activities of the front office. Demonstrates initiative, resourcefulness and problem solving skills, in applying a detailed knowledge of the responsibilities, functions and underlying management structure of the department and of the larger Health System in organizing and prioritizing work. Establishing procedures and systems and ensuring the orderly and timely flow of business through the office.

Daily job duties includes, but not limited to:

  • Greets patients.

  • Collects co-payments/give receipts/reconcile payments/batch fee tickets.

  • Prepares charts.

  • Reviews patient demographics and insurance information.

  • Performs/updates demographics and insurance registration.

  • Collects co-pay/insurance cards, copying required information.

  • Manages patient flow.

  • Maintains waiting rooms.

  • Schedules first available appointments.

  • Takes voice mail messages off phones and direct appropriately.

  • Answers and triage calls, directing to appropriate individuals or departments.

  • Handles all telephone interactions.

  • Performs check-in and check-out functions.

  • Processes and track referrals.

  • Handles patient/MD correspondence.

  • Manages all MD requests.

  • Schedules patients with ancillary and specialty providers.

Educational Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent required, BS or MA preferred.


  • 2 years of experience in a healthcare/medical office setting working with insurance companies and obtaining authorizations required

  • General understanding of Medical Terminology

  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills for interacting with patients, payers, physicians and other CSHS customers

  • Proficient working knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Ability to balance multiple tasks

  • Ability to problem solve/prioritize

  • Demonstrated ability to work well as a team player and independently

  • Ability to interact effectively with Directors, Managers, internal staff, patients, physicians, and representatives of outside agencies

  • English language proficiency. Being bilingual is a plus!
