Description: Rigs loads to cranes and operates all production cranes such as mobile yard and overhead traveling, to lift, move, lower, position and mate a wide variety of heavy cargoes, materials and articles such as completed aircraft, aircraft assemblies, machinery, dies and jigs, where it is required to exercise a complete knowledge of rigging, crane capacity and operating procedure and applicable safety regulations; determines, selects, secures and adjusts the most suitable type and number of slings, cables, hooks and/or other lifting and securing devices, so that established weight limits and clearances are observed, load is balanced and properly secured, and pull will be uniformly and evenly distributed to prevent damage to load, and to properly align load for precision positioning or mating; operates cranes in response to ground signals, where skillful operation of controls and constant attention are required to locate and/or mate the load precisely, in order to avoid obstructions and costly damage to the load and adjacent equipment.
Guides movements of crane operator by hand signals so that load will be correctly positioned, and the safety of load, personnel and adjacent equipment will be ensured.
Removes rigging from load and returns to correct storage area upon completion of move.
Verifies status and operation of all equipment before use.
Reports malfunctioning of equipment.
Connects or disconnects bridge to facilitate movement from one bay to another.
Operates gantry-type and pendant and radio-controlled cranes as required.
Must possess California State required crane certification for small hydraulic boom crane and telescopic boom crane.
Performs satisfactorily any function of the Trucker - Power, Senior classification. Operates forklifts to move conveyances in support of Production needs.
Standing: Requires full time standing with limited resting periods and to walk distances. Sit for extended periods if required.
Heights: Able to work at heights. Able to climb stairs or ladders as required. Able to work off of step stools, scissor lifts, lift platforms and aircraft structure without handrails.
Overhead work: Able to work overhead as required.
Able to squat/kneel/crawl/reach as required.
Weight restriction: Able to Lift/push/pull/carry a minimum of 50 lbs.
Body positioning: Able to twist/bend (neck or waist) and stoop. Able to work in awkward positions as required.
Must possess licenses and/or certifications required by the Company. National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) certifications must be obtained and verified by end of probationary period at the expense of the employee.
Two years crane rigging experience.
Experience using power equipment, such as forklift, power jacks and pallet jacks.
Experience operating Vehicles/Power moving equipment.
Experience with crane rigging
Previous warehouse experience.
