Abbott Construction Field Engineer in Pasadena, California

Primary Duties

  • Conduct safety orientations at assigned project sites or as otherwise directed.

  • Monitor field subcontractor crews and contact subcontractors to facilitate manpower support during respective phases of the project.

  • Inspect the project daily for quality, production and safety.

  • Review conflicts with field conditions, plans, and specifications; generate RFIs for timely and constructible resolution.

  • Review submittals for compliance with plans and specifications.

  • Take responsibility for procurement of all material after submittals have been returned to the subcontractors to ensure on-time delivery.

  • Review status of submittals and RFI’s at weekly owner meetings.

  • Maintain and post RFI's and update as-built drawings.

  • Assist Superintendent with scheduling and directing the daily activities of work and take necessary action to assure that the project objectives are met.

  • Assist Superintendent in logistic planning in order to set up project temporary trailer, utilities, access roads, storage facilities, fencing and other needed jobsite facilities.


  • Must be able to pass a drug test.

  • Bachelor’s degree or 2+ years of experience in a construction field.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret business documents, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence.

  • Ability to effectively communicate, present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

  • Must be willing to travel if required.
