Blackhawk Network is looking for a Business Development Director for our US Gaming & Sports betting business. The ideal person for this role will have a solid background in the online and technology focused areas of sports betting and online gaming and will have built strong relationships with key gaming operators and technology providers within the industry. This highly successfully individual person will be responsible to secure and develop strategic relationships with sports betting operators, casinos and vendors to the industry, as well as other projects within the Blackhawk Network organization. You will be required to handle multiple high-priority projects simultaneously and effectively negotiate complex agreements within highly regulated industries. This position offers an unparalleled opportunity to leverage your industry connections and understanding of sports betting businesses and their new technologies and product offerings as online gaming is legalized across multiple states, in combination with Blackhawk’s leading financial technology capabilities to provide new solutions to the market.
In this role, you will be responsible for the following:
Take the lead to identify, evaluate, negotiate and manage strategic partnerships and product deals that drive competitive advantage and customer delight, and support strategic objectives
Generate support for selling and marketing the product by our retail partners
Ability to nurture existing relationships to drive innovation and renewal of those relationships
Provide industry insight in support of Blackhawk’s product development and technology teams
Prepare and give business reviews to the senior management team
20%-30% travel required
5+ years experience in sports betting or casino gaming in the following roles: Business Development or Sales, Alliances Marketing, Strategic Partnerships, Product Marketing, and/or Product Management
5+ years of success in business development or sales
A strategic mindset: Ability to think strategically, crisply synthesizing market research and competitive intelligence and articulating that into a winning go-to-market strategy
Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in closing partnership deals, managing conflict, negotiation, and driving to win-wins.
Meaningful relationships with key industry participants
An understanding of new technologies and product offerings in the industry as online sports betting and gaming is legalized across multiple states
A competitive spirit who likes to win: Track record of consistently exceeding established revenue goals
Experience negotiating complex contracts, working through conflicts, and facilitating joint legal conversations
Strong executive presence with proven ability to listen, communicate and present in formal and informal settings
Ability to maintain a high level of productivity, manage multiple competing priorities, and work effectively under the pressure of time constraints in a fast-paced, complex, collaborative, and team-oriented environment
Bachelor’s degree required
MBA preferred, not required
