SSSD has an opening for a Principal Engineer/ Sr. Principal Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California and support the Engineering Technical Operations organization.
The selected candidate will be expected to:
Support integration of strategic activities and organization initiatives for executive level review and briefings
Support engineering reviews on programs to ensure successful engineering execution via metrics, identification and tracking of issues and risks
Support and lead hiring & staffing initiatives for both UR&R and experienced employees to ensure common processes & tool usage, and integrate & analyze data as needed to support performance tracking and reporting
Support and lead initiatives as needed, including but not limited to:
gathering, integrating, synthesizing, and reporting on data and other engineering metrics
managing employee development and engagement activities and resources including STEM outreach; site, facilities & infrastructure efforts
communications to Division/Sector Leadership and to the broader engineering population
Ensure utilization and maintenance of common tools and processes for functional homeroom
As a part of the engineering leadership team, the Technical Operations organization serves as a capability to run the "business of engineering" within the division, aligned to division goals and success. The ideal candidate for this role will be a member of the engineering team who seeks to understand, learn, and leverage greater business acumen through this role, and the capability to innovate, while challenging traditional ways of doing business with a commitment to ethics and integrity.

BQ for Principal Engineer: Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline with 5 years of experience in Engineering and/or Aerospace industry; OR Masters degree in a STEM discipline 3 years of experience in Engineering and/or Aerospace industry
BQ for Sr. Principal Engineer: Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline with 9 years of experience in Engineering and/or Aerospace industry; OR Masters degree in a STEM discipline 7 years of experience in Engineering and/or Aerospace industry
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret and SCI clearance
Experience and knowledge of NG Space Sector / Strategic Space Systems Division
Active SCI clearance
Excellent interpersonal skills
Experience with leading or supporting engineering projects and teams
Proven ability to produce reliable metrics and drive performance
