Sutter Health Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) - Catheterization Laboratory in Sacramento, California
The Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) provides technical services and support duties in the areas of invasive diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular and peripheral-vascular procedures performed in the Cardiac Cath Lab for neonatal, pediatric and adult patients.
The CVT, as a part of the patient care team, is responsible for the following:
• Case monitoring and documentation (hemodynamics, stages of procedure)
• Performing in the scrub position and assisting the physician during procedures
• Logging supplies into the patient record
• Assisting with patient care under the guidance of the RN
• Oversight and trouble shooting of clinical equipment during procedures
• Set up and management of case
Additionally, the CVT performs patient care duties associated with invasive procedures while maintaining maximum patient safety and comfort on all cases. This position functions in a highly specialized and unique area and must be available to participate in a varying work schedule, as part of the on-call rotation, on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Education/ Licensure/ Certification/ Registration:
Two-year cardiovascular program or equivalent experience required.
Cardiovascular Technologist CVT Certification Required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification obtained through the American Heart Association Required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
North America Society for Pacing and Electrophysiology (NASPE) Certification Preferred.
Experience: Previous cardiac catheterization experience preferred.
Knowledge and skills:
Thorough understanding of cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring required
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision
Must be able to work in a rapidly changing and challenging environment and take appropriate actions in emergent situations.
