Job Summary

We are seeking a qualifiedAnimal Care Technician 3 for our Insourcing Solutions site in the South San Francisco, CA area.

TheAnimal Care Technician 3 will care for the animals used in research and development studies key responsibilities include:

  • Conduct room inspections to assess the animals’ health and cage environment as well as all related paperwork and record keeping.

  • Perform and report clinical observations to required standards.

  • Provide general husbandry as needed to include, for example, animal receiving and cage changes.

  • Perform general housekeeping and sanitation as required

  • Handle and restrain rodents.

  • Able to perform the following techniques to assist in in vivo studies:Oral gavage in rodents, IV, SQ, IP, IM injection techniques in rodents, Blood collection:, Tail vein in rodents, Orbital sinus in rodents, Cardiac in rodents, Necropsy and tissue collection

  • Rodent euthanasia

  • Dispose of animal carcasses following established procedures.

  • Develop an understanding of and regularly utilize available information resources and systems (e.g., SOPs, policies, computer applications

  • Conduct procedures in compliance with established protocols/plans and with regulatory and laboratory requirements.

Job Qualifications

Education/Experience : Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in animal or life sciences field preferred.OR High School diploma/GED and four (4) years directly related work experience in laboratory animal husbandry and technical skills as detailed above required.• Experience:An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.• Certification/Licensure: AALAS certification at the LAT level preferred.
