Aerotek Production Chemist II in San Diego, California
Carry out production tasks in support of manufacturing goals and objectives.
Production of complex biological reagents as directed, following established guidelines and procedures.
Uses chromatography techniques.
Operates production equipment
Performs quality control testing.
Authors and reviews production batch records.
Operate complex laboratory equipment safely, as trained and directed, and in accordance with established practices.
Perform required data entry on company planning and materials management system.
Follow all safety guidelines, manufacturing policies and procedures. Operate under strict QSR and ISO compliance.
Perform complex formulations, component and material evaluations, equipment calibrations and maintenance.
Make perform and execute verification and validation studies for new products
Demonstrates commitment to the development, implementation and effectiveness of Alere Quality Management System per ISO, FDA, and other regulatory agencies.
Understands and is aware of the quality consequences which may occur from the improper performance of their specific job; has awareness of device defects that may occur in their area of responsibility, including product design, verification and validation, manufacturing and testing activities
Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company's policies and practices; build productive internal/external working relationships.
May assist with resolving technical issues.
May review existing operational and process discrepancies in manufacturing and provide technical expertise to improve procedures
Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies
Other duties as assigned, according to the changing needs of the business
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS | EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- BA or BS degree minimum or equivalent work experience
- Two to four years' experience post (BA/BS) or zero to one years' experience post (MA/MS).
Preferred degree in Chemistry or Biological Sciences.
Experience in bacterial fermentation, mammalian cell culture processes, and/or protein purification utilizing chromatography techniques (IMAC, Q-Sepharose, Protein A, Protein G, DEAE, etc)
Experience in protein conjugations a plus.
Experience in good manufacturing practice (GMP) and good documentation practice (GDP) preferred.
Experience in large-scale manufacturing procedures.
Ability to follow detailed instructions, maintains accurate records and notes, and carries out assignments in a thorough, conscientious fashion while adhering to safe laboratory practices.
Knowledge of a variety of lab equipment and their operation is preferred.
Able to carry out experiments following established guidelines and summarize results accurately.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
