The Sr. Project Manager has overall accountability for the success of critical global and local business process projects within the Biosciences business unit. The position plays a key role in managing transformative projects/programs, building processes, and leading cross-functional teams towards realization of both quantitative and qualitative benefits that are aligned with the overall business strategy.

The Sr. Project Manager will partner with other department leaders to define, prioritize, and develop projects and programs, providing input into key business decisions and resource planning. This is an independent position that drives solutions. The ideal candidate for this role will have a proven track record of working with internal and external parties, being a champion of change, reporting progress to senior business leaders on a regular basis, and managing complex projects on a global scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all day-to-day operational aspects of projects, applying best practices & standards of project management to deliver on commitments. This includes but is not limited to, project initiation, scoping, scheduling, budgets, activity & resource planning, risk analysis & mitigation, execution, stakeholder management and project documentation.

  • Leads the team to prepare for Phase Gate and other Go/No-Go decisions by senior leadership, ensuring that decisions are informed by a balanced and clearly articulated representation of the relevant data.

  • Ensures alignment of project value proposition, scope, and strategic business objectives.

  • Oversee the development and presentation of project business cases and ROI.

  • Communicates project updates to functional management and senior leaders

  • Leads the RFP process to find, evaluate and decide on implementation partners required to deliver the project as needed.

  • Work with teams and individuals to mitigate conflicts and resolve issues as needed. Leverage cross-organizational relationships for support, and resolution of issues.

  • Anticipate, creatively solve, and proactively mitigates problems vs. simply reacting.

  • Anticipates organizational changes that come with large-scale implementations and the change management and communication interventions that may be needed

  • Assess the organization’s readiness for change and potential risks. Exercises judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Defines and measures success metrics and monitors change progress

  • Performs other related duties and assignments as required

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree inOperations/Supply Chain,BusinessAdministration, project management,or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years’experiencesuccessfullyleadingbroad, complex, and/or strategiccross-functional global projectsdelivered through high performing, cross-functional teamswithin a matrix organization. Experience working in medical device orlifescience industrypreferred.

  • PMP(Project Management Professional) certificationhighly desired.

  • ERP system business acumen (SAP, JDE, etc.): ability to navigate, understand transaction processing and reporting

Knowledge and Skills

  • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills coupled to strong business, strategic and financial acumen.

  • Exceptional leadership qualities consistently delivering results. Inspirational and motivational balancing accountability with mentorship and support.

  • Strategic and yet able to comprehend and manage details. Expert in balancing risk with progress and a timely path for escalation.

  • Highly effective interpersonal skills on a cross-cultural level with excellent oral, presentation, and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated experience with helping organizations through large-scale changes such as new plant startups, merger/integration activities, organizational alignment or transformation preferred.

  • Experience and/or advanced functional knowledge of supply chain (logistics, customer service, demand/supply planning) processes

  • Excellent organization and time management skills and the ability to work independently, seeking support as needed. Excellent judgment and decision-making. Strong humility, listening, creativity, and negotiation skills

  • Change management experience in principles and methodologies to generate excitement and engagement through influence and establishing/maintaining strong relationships

  • Strong expertise in utilization of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project) and virtual teaming

Additional Information

CAN BE REMOTE or San Diego, CA based

If Remote - Ability to travel up to 10% (when travel is able to resume safely)
