Charles Schwab Managing Director, Corporate Vendor Management - Marketing in San Francisco, California

Your Opportunity

Corporate Vendor Management (CVM) at Charles Schwab & Co. is responsible for implementing a firm-wide, end-to-end vendor relationship management process to improve vendor performance and value. Vendor & Sourcing Management (VSM) identifies, mitigates, monitors, and manages vendor risk; and assists Schwab in meeting regulatory and compliance requirements. The VSM organization is currently growing to develop its next generation capability, including Shared Services (HR, Finance and Corporate Real Estate), Professional Services (Outsourced Services and Consulting), Marketing (Agency, Media, Market Research), and Technology (Hardware, Software, Networks, Market Data, Telecommunications) category management and strategic sourcing capabilities.

What you are good at

The Managing Director, Marketing (e.g. creative, media, digital, production, market research, other marketing services), will play a critical role in providing business executives and senior Schwab partners category plans and sourcing strategies, managing vendor risks, as well as collaborate with risk groups and legal, as required, on vendor engagements.

This position also leads a team in executing initiatives, and managing all aspects of the procurement process to ensure the best overall cost/benefit scenario for products/services, including but not limited to innovation, pricing, business term negotiations, supply network assurance, supply network analysis, commercialization and quality compliance and will also ensure that industry-leading procurement services tools are utilized to support growth relationships for our suppliers and business partners.

What you have

  • 10+ years of subject matter expertise within Marketing (e.g. creative, media, digital, production, market research, other marketing services), category management, strategic sourcing, consulting, vendor management, risk management and/or procurement (required)

  • 5+ years management experience and proficiency in leading a geographically-separated team

  • Effective leader with the ability to influence and implement process improvement

  • Flexible and adaptable in handling/implementing change and understands how that change will affect the team, internal Business Partners and vendors

  • Proven track record of using metrics, analytics and reporting to develop and execute a category management strategy

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including forming effective relationships with senior level business partners

  • Project management skills with ability to lead cross-functional teams, using category management to improve value while mitigating risks and ensuring internal partner requirements are met

  • Self-starter with ability to handle multiple projects and succeed in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with minimal direction

  • Strong social skills and relationship building skills to build consistently great client experiences

  • Proficiency in Excel (required); and experience with Ariba, Hiperos, eSourcing tools, PeopleSoft and/or Access (a plus)

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Graduate degree preferred
