Charles Schwab Senior Manager, Client Experience in San Francisco, California
The Third-Party Platforms & Strategy organization leads our third-party asset management platforms – maintaining a vibrant client experience while growing a revenue stream which is vital to Schwab’s overall financial health. This group handles the following products: Mutual Funds, Managed Accounts, ETFs, 529s, Structured Products, and Alternative Investments. We develop new products and services for clients, build relationships with third-party asset management partners, maintain a healthy offering (e.g. by adding new funds or resources), and work effectively with outside firms to build a positive client experience.
As part of the MF, ETF & 529 product team, the Senior Manager, Client Experience, you will have the opportunity to join the team responsible for educating and crafting tools for thousands of mutual funds and ETFs as well as the Schwab 529 plan to clients of Schwab’s various enterprises. Serving individual investors, registered investment advisors (RIAs), retirement plans, and other institutional clients, the third-party mutual fund, ETF, and 529 platforms are a centralized and shared resource for the firm.
The Senior Manager will develop and execute strategies to help build and maintain Schwab’s industry-leading mutual fund, ETF, and 529 offers. The Senior Manager will then work closely with internal partners to implement critical initiatives that address changing industry trends, evolve our business and economic model, pursue market growth opportunities and improve internal business processes and operations.

Execute a strong blend of project/product management, data analysis, critical and strategic thinking, presentation building and execution skills to deliver on various high-impact cross-functional projects to further elevate Schwab’s leading mutual fund, ETF, and 529 client experience and enable a proactive approach to industry trends and dynamics.
Partner closely with strategy, technology, operations, compliance, and corporate counsel, in the planning and execution of key projects.
Engage with internal partners around the firm (e.g., research, marketing, digital services, and Schwab proprietary MF and ETF offerings), acting both as subject matter expert and change agent for better client experiences and reduced risk to our overall firm.
Build and maintain a strong network of business partners internally and externally to consult on issues and opportunities facing the mutual fund and ETF platforms/products to arrive at collaborative solutions.
Create detailed product requirements to hand over to the development team.
Gain a deep understanding of client pain points, needs and their journey to build an industry-leading experience.
Ensure processes and procedures supporting functions of the mutual fund and ETF platforms/products are maintained to minimize risk to the firm and to drive efficiency and scale in platform maintenance.
Deliver data-driven insights, producing recommendations and business cases to support meaningful strategic direction and business prioritization to proactively drive improvements to the delivery and quality of the mutual fund, ETF, and 529 platform.
What you have
7+ years of project management, product management, or client experience.
Bachelor’s degree; MBA and/or equivalent post-MBA level experience preferred.
High degree of comfort dealing with ambiguity; comfort in a dynamic and fast-moving work environment.
Excellent project management skills, including attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and work efficiently (independently and with teams), to meet tight deadlines with minimal direction.
Some experience in consulting or corporate development and/or internal strategy function is preferred; prior experience in financial services preferred.
A strategic problem solver with strong business judgment and analytical skills, who is able to tackle issues as they arise.
A strong understanding of key partner functions such as trading, operations, marketing, supervision, and compliance.
Robust communication skills, both written and verbal, with proven ability developing materials and optimally presenting to and persuading audiences.
Highly capable user of PowerPoint and Excel.
Deep expertise in the landscape of the financial services industry, especially as it relates to asset management and mutual funds and ETFs.
Strong relationship building and partnerships skills; a strong team player.
Industry certifications (CFA, CFP, CIMA) preferred.
