Job Title:Architect, Consumer eCommerce platform

Location: US, California, San Jose

Role Overview:

-We have an opening for an Architect, MarTech & Consumer eCommerce platform role that will provide vision and leadership for the strategic development and management of the organization with focus on building solutions that maximize use of emerging technologies to transform McAfee Consumer eCommerce platform to achieve superior value and scalability for new user acquisition and retention of existing subscribers. This individual will also participate, as a member of the senior management team in ensuring that eCommerce platform objectives are achieved, risks are managed, and the organization's resources are used responsibly relative to technology solutions.

Chief Architect will provide architectural strategy and leadership to developing and implementing initiatives that improve innovation in a constantly evolving marketing technology and consumer ecommerce space. In addition, the individual will be responsible to maintain up-to-date knowledge of Marketing Technology platforms in the areas of emails, CMS, audience segmentation, CDPs and user personalization to drive best in class consumer experiences. The Architect will own & provide necessary leadership to drive product/technology transformation that align with overall business strategy.

Software architect is responsible for the technical direction of a project. Makes high level design choices for the software structure, frameworks, protocols, and algorithms. Determines coding practices, development tools, and validation requirements. Performs pathfinding and surveys technologies. Interacts with multiple technologists in the company and within the industry as well as between developers and project managers to evaluate feasibility of requirements and determine priorities for development.

Job Duties

  • Working with eCommerce engineering leaders, initiate and deliver technology evaluations and recommendations, including but not limited to performing a key role in evaluating Buy vs. Build, Data Center vs. Cloud decisions and other critical choices during design process.

  • Designing and applying technology in ways that provide differentiation around customer experiences.

  • Cultivate relationships with engineering Leadership and bring thought leadership including architectural and strategic advice in the areas of emerging technologies, architecture principles, technology lifecycles and best practices.

  • Develop and maintain architectural blueprints that address current state challenges and a roadmap to achieve a target Future State which aligns with business and product strategy.

  • Provide analysis of architectural gaps in the organization.

  • Communicate architectural decisions, plans, goals and strategies.

  • Provide architectural direction to other leads and Architects in the business segment, teach and coach on architecture principles and standards.

  • Develop, communicate and deploy Architecture Governance as fair, consistent and transparent processes

  • Identify architectural risks and propose alternatives and solutions.

  • Perform annual architectural maturity assessments.

Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor's/master degree in Computer science from an accredited college or university


15+ years of progressively responsible software engineering and architecture experience with at least 7+ years in a multi-entity, complex environment as a lead architect.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to lead the organization through design, development and deployment following leading solution delivery processes

  • Knowledge of consumer marketing technology platforms (Adobe,, Oracle marketing cloud) and experience integrating them with home grown platforms.

  • Knowledge of multiple technical platforms, operating systems, databases and development languages including but not limited to Cloud, Mobile, Web, UNIX/Linux, Networking, AI and Big Data.

  • Must have worked within a multi-disciplined, cross-functional technical organizations.

  • Strong oral and written interpersonal skills with proven ability to influence and achieve alignment across a range of different opinions and interests.

  • Proven ability to buildand sustains excellent relationships at multiple levels in the work place.

  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor key architects and leads across the organization to drive transformational changes in line with business and product strategy. These would include, but not limited to, architectural evolution, cloud-scaling & migration, common API/data modeling & adoption of new technologies, processes and skills.

  • Experience with the development, ownership, and successful delivery of a business wide technology architecture plan that has achieved application simplification and standardization.

  • A team player, the successful candidate will need to effectively drive change through influence and collaboration with both engineering and business stakeholders. The ideal candidate should be comfortable dealing with both senior business stakeholders and technical Engineering teams.

  • Demonstrates ability to build business case for recommendations with communication skills, political sensitivity, patience and persuasiveness to achieve consensus.

  • Current on technology trends and solutions, including but not limited to cloud computing, security across businesses and devices, business intelligence tools and applications, mobile computing and networking.
