Gas Operations is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable flow of natural gas to our customers. As a whole, Gas Operations is responsible for all aspects of PG&E’s gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration and emergency response.
Provides quality assurance (QA) for the assigned gas or gas and electric commodity. Performs QA assessments for adherence to compliance requirements, company standards, laws and identified business process requirements across the service area. Develops clear and concise written reports to describe non-conformances or process gaps which are used to communicate recommendations for the eliminations of waste or process improvements cross-functionally with various stakeholders. Participate and serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the development and review process of gas distribution Policies, Standards and Work Procedures. This is an Individual Contributor position with no direct Supervision responsibilities. Requires approximately 50% travel; Typically day travel with minimal overnight travel required.
This position is flexible to all PG&E service territories.
This position is a DOT (Department of Transportation) covered classification and is subject to random drug and/or alcohol screening.
Performs complex quality assessments of work inspected and verified by compliance staff ensuring effectiveness of quality controls in catching work procedure non- conformances.
Conducts assessments through direct observation and employee interviews ensuring adherence to and accountability for end to end processes.
Identifies and analyzes issues to create corrective action plans.
Uses continuous improvement tools and techniques to identify improvement opportunities and eliminate waste.
Advises departments in the development and implementation of related work process guideline documentation and training.
Manages special projects and or initiatives as assigned related to the elimination of waste and continuous improvement.
Recommends improvements as needed to meet quality assurance operations objectives. Ensures training, guidance, tools, and techniques enable employees to create quality work product within standards.
High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
CA Class C License, or equivalent
5 years of experience in the field performing maintenance, construction, restoration or other execution of work on gas transmission or distribution systems.
Experience in gas operations or quality management or one year of gas quality management specialist experience
Ability to travel as needed to various work sites across the territory, with potentially overnight stays required
Bachelors Degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience
ASQ-American Society for Quality CQA-Certified Quality Auditor certification
ASQ-American Society for Quality CQIA-Certified Quality Improvement Associate certification
NACE-National Association of Corrosion Engineers CIP-Coating Inspector Program Level 1 certification
LSS-Lean Six Sigma Certification
AWS-American Welding Society CWI-Certified Welding Inspector certification
