Danaher Corporation Global Accounting Manager in Sunnyvale, California

Position Summary

The Global Accounting Manager will ensure timely and accurate reporting of the Company’s financial statements to senior management and our parent company and will oversee the day-to-day operations in the areas of General Ledger, Reporting, and Consolidations in addition to handling business transformation projects for the Accounting organization. This position will report into the Director, Global Consolidations and Reporting

Essential Job Responsibilities

Monthly Close and Reporting

  • Responsible for overseeing and coordinating the monthly close process. This includes finalizing close calendar timeline, running daily close calls, ownership for accuracy and completion of the monthly CFO package and monthly balance sheet fluxes.

  • Responsible for scheduling and running monthly CFO review meeting as wells a balance sheet flux meeting for EMEA, APAC, and Brazil

  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of monthly consolidated reports for senior management of Cepheid, as well as our parent company, Danaher.

  • Key player in reviewing and ensuring the proper monthly global reporting and accounting close of financial information in accordance with GAAP.

  • Demonstrate and maintain a positive customer service focus to both internal and external customers. This position will work cross functionally with Parent Co, FP&A, tax, subsidiaries and outside accounting firms.

Internal Controls

  • Responsible for coordination of team deliverables for audits (internal and external)

  • Responsible for coordinating statutory audits as needed worldwide

  • Ensure SOX compliance by adhering to internal control requirements, maintaining updated documentation and providing recommendations as appropriate.

  • Assists Global Controller in performing and documenting annual balance sheet review cycle for subsidiaries

Business Process Transformation

  • Developing and implementing best practice processes and systems globally.

  • Continuously identify and develop solutions to drive process efficiency.

  • Project Management and One Stream administrator of Worldwide implementation of One Stream for Streamlining the close process

  • Assist the Accounting team with evaluation and Implementation of solutions for Accounts Payable Transformation

  • Evaluate Robotic Process Automation for several processes, automating approval workflows

  • SAP and BPC Business Super User serving as the expert for process improvement initiatives

  • Special projects with Go-To-Market initiatives such as implementation of SAP FI, Fixed Assets and Concur for 10 Go-to-Market Initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, CPA preferred

  • Minimum of 15+ years practical work experience and familiarity with areas of monthly financial close, inter-company transactions, account reconciliations, multi-currency consolidations, and financial reporting

Knowledge and Skills

  • Solid understanding of general ledger systems and foreign currency translation

  • Strong technical skills including knowledge of GAAP and sound understanding of financial statement mechanics.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy is a must

  • Ability to understand issues, demonstrate resourcefulness and pro-actively resolve problems and manage multiple projects in a timely manner.

  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills to research and resolve inquiries and respond in a timely manner.

  • Solid organizational skills: task prioritization and effective time management.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and influence individuals in various functional areas and different levels of the organization.

  • Mid- to advanced PC skills using Outlook, Word, Excel (ability to perform pivots, V-lookups and other functions with Excel).

  • SAP, BPC and HFM experience preferred.

  • Self-starter

  • Able to handle confidential information in a mature manner
