POSITION SUMMARY
Processes surgical tissue and fluid specimens in the preparation of slides for pathologist examination.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma
Experience: Experience with instrumentation and computers, and a minimum of 2000 hours of on-the-job training, or currently enrolled in a CAHEA-approved histology training program.
Knowledge and Skills: The individual may or may not perform all the essential job functions, depending upon the level of experience. Essential job functions performed will be determined by the level of experience. Employee must demonstrate age specific competencies for the specific work area in which the employee works and cares for patients.
License/Certifications: ASCP certification preferred.
Equipment: Competent in the use of instruments required for the processing of tissue and fluid specimens, and slide preparation.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform the essential physical requirements of the job.
