Chick-fil-A, Inc. Sr. Principal Leader, Process Automation and Maintenance in Valencia, California

Bay Center Foods, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Chick-fil-A, Inc., is a fresh food production company focused on producing real lemon juice and lemon byproducts. Based in Valencia, California, Bay Center™ supplies real lemon juice for Chick-fil-A restaurants chainwide with the longer-term vision of fostering innovation to improve Chick-fil-A Team Member and Guest experience.

As the Sr Principal Leader Process Automation Maintenance, you will report to the Director of Manufacturing at the Bay Center Foods manufacturing facility in Valencia, California. You will be responsible for overseeing and managing the development and implementation of specific process improvements and the achievement of several critical key performance indicators (KPIs). In this role, you will lead the development and organization of, and will be responsible for the evaluation, planning, performance, and management of maintenance on all High-Pressure Pasteurization (HPP) systems and Physical Robot repair and maintenance. Provides professional recommendations associated with maintaining the HPP and Robot Systems market value and upkeep related to asset management, ensuring the high-quality product is produced. You will oversee operations to ensure that employees and equipment comply with safety regulations, identify cost-saving opportunities and work with relevant stakeholders to solution deficiencies.

• Lead the process design and implementation of improvement projects by evaluating current processes for efficiency and effectiveness and proposing and implementing improvements as appropriate

• Understand, evaluate and implement trends and innovations in the manufacturing industry to deliver better performing solutions

• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, operations and vendor to ensure requirements and objectives are met within budget, scope and timeline

• Establish and develop the concept process, including estimated standard times and optimize headcount

• Be responsible for process documentation and ensuring it is kept current including Policies, Standard Operation Procedures, Work Instructions and more

• Be responsible for utilizing Statistical Process Control data and tools to characterize all equipment processes for operating limits, robustness, and action limits

• Develop and enable data driven operational and financial decisions through predictive insights into tool and process performance, including integration of factory data systems and use of software such as Tableau, MES, CMMS, ZDT, HPP dashboards, etc.…

• Champion continuous improvement projects and standardization to support best in class lean manufacturing systems to maximize yield, capacity, and capability

• Generate and execute business improvement ideas for cost reduction, labor savings, material flow and safety

• Perform supporting activities for engineering and manufacturing including 5S and Lean manufacturing activities, material handling improvements, production line configuration, and safety procedures

• Be responsible for developing processes and tools for team leader and team member training and development

To be successful in this role, you must have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline

• Relevant Experience: 7+ years

• Expert Level Experience in High Pressure Vessel design, maintenance and operations

• Journeyman or higher, level experience in Robotic Maintenance

• Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments

• Able to anticipate needs, lead multiple projects, and manage shifting priorities

• Strong technical aptitude to understand the relationship between operations processes and business outcomes

• Exceptional time management and prioritization skills

• A passion for leading positive change throughout organizations

• Ability to lead with a hypothesis and draw key insights from data

• Intermediate level AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MS Office (including Project)

• An aptitude for problem solving with exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills.

• Strong interpersonal, networking, and communication (written and verbal) skills; a team player, yet able to work independently when necessary

• Track record of developing and implementing creative process solutions that drive effective improvements

• Ability to instill a culture of safety, engagement and positivity that reflects Chick-fil-A values

• Passion for Chick-fil-A vision and strategy

  • Preferred Relevant Experience: 7+ years

  • Expert Level Experience in HPP system maintenance, operations and trouble shooting

  • Preferred Certifications: HPP maintenance (Hiperbaric or Avure), Fanuc basics, Fanuc end tools, Fanuc Maintenance, Lean Manufacturing
